Nearly done now...
Here's a brief account of what's been done:-
We noticed that the shelf along the front window
was rotting, so my wife decided to put a hammer
through it to have a look. Any way, there was a
lot of damp in the left corner, so basically I
started stripping back to find the extent of the
problem. I stripped away the wallboard to expose
the studding, only to find this had rotted too.
So I removed the window seal and the rest of the
wallboard, then removed the studding. Next I
rebuilt the studding and built a new shelf,
trying to keep the weight to a minimum to help
with the noseweight. The shelf was fixed to the
studding for extra bracing. I will be covering
the shelf with vinyl tiles to match the kitchen
area which needs to be re surfaced. All that
needs doing now is to fit the new wallboard and
it's all done. The leak came from behind the
upper front marker lights, so I have resealed
behind these with some flexi sealant.
